On Thursday, May 15 in Adelaide, La Baracca has received the ASSITEJ Award for Artistic Excellence 2008.
The award is assigned every three years to emerging artists or to remarkably interesting and innovative companies operating in the field of theatre for children and young people.

The judging panel, constituted by Katariina Metsälampi, presidente, (Finland), Hope Azeda (Rwanda), Young Ai Choi (Korea), Jeremy Turner (United Kingdom) e Peter Rinderknecht (Switzerland), awarded La Baracca – Testoni Ragazzi for the project “0-3 years. Theatre for the very young” with the following motivation:
“… for their creative and imaginative work for the very young. La Baracca is the “nido” of the new art form for the real next generation we are so interested in today. All the candidates make remarkable work in their own countries, but La Baracca work radiates internationally. This company has been a flagship theatre in moving the whole field of theatre for the very young forward. The company co-operates with other practitioners all over Europe, and has organized the first festival of early childhood theatre”.

It’s a great satisfaction for us, of course, but we do like to consider this award as a great opportunity for the Small size Network too, since it’s an acknowledgement for the entire experience of theatre for the very young that we all together helped to grow during these years.
