We believe that teachers andeducators play a major role in encouraging children to move closer to creativeand artistic projects. Without them, no projectcould be developed with that continuity which is necessary to create andcultivate an artistic sensibility.
At the same time, we thinkthat teachers must be allowed to get closer to those who live their daily lifein an artistic context. By doing this, they will be able to orient themselvesin the labyrinth of artistic creation, without false or wrong simplifications.

The Small size workshop forteachers and educators draw its inspiration from these elements. The projectwill start on the occasion of the next edition of the international festival"Visions of future, visions of theatre..." in Bologna, it will continue in otherEuropean towns in the next few years and it is being developed within theactivities of Small Size, the European network for the diffusion of performingarts for early childhood.
The participants will beteachers and educators from several European and non-European countries, whowill be exchanging ideas also with the artists that will guide them through acommon path of artistic creation.

This workshop was held in Bologna during festival “Visions of future, visions of theatre…” in March 2008 and 83 teachers and educators from 7 European and non-European countries took part in it, exchanging ideas and experiences among them and with the artists who guided them along a path of artistic creation. This work ended with the presentation to Festival guests of a performance. Images, words and sensations of those days are also collected in a little book: “Small size workshop. Diario di immagini e di parole”.

In the framework of the new project "Small size, big citizens" new workshops will be organised in different European locations. More information will appear on this page once the places and dates are fixed, so keep checking this website or contact us!
