Dance Theatre Auraco
Company, Finland, Helsinki
Dance Theatre Auraco is a unique and visual dance theatre from Finland. Auraco has a large variety of programme both for children and for all audiences, and both stage and site specific performances. One key factor in Auraco’s performances is interaction with the audience, to create a living relationship with them in the present moment. The performers also break the boundaries between the audience and themselves. Auraco’s performances are often called beautiful, peaceful, genuine and sensitive.
Auraco is one of the most internationally touring Finnish dance companies. Their baby performance Me-Me has been performed in 10 countries after its premiere in 2009.
Auraco was founded in 2006 by choreographer Päivi Aura. It is maintained by the multi-artistic association Kuukulkurit. The association creates multi-artistic projects combining for example dance and visual arts. Kuukulkurit has realized many projects for example in elderly houses where they have combined an art exhibition and a dance performance related to it. Auraco also has a large range of workshops to offer for professionals, amateurs or for example children and parents.
