Baboró International Arts Festival for Children

Launched in Galway in 1997, Baboró is now the flagship children’s arts festival in Ireland. Created to ensure a greater degree of access to the arts for children, the organisation has grown substantially in the last 20 years. Audiences number around 20,000, with a mix of school and public audiences. Presenting a week of performance annually in October, the festival programme is diverse with Irish and International work in Theatre, Dance, Visual Art, Puppetry, Music and Literature, with workshops and other added activities enhancing the experience for children. Baboró also provides support and mentoring for Irish artists, and teachers and parents in the area of artistic development. Since 2009 Baboró has been a member of Small size, and is one of the 18 partners organisations involved in the Small size, big citizens project.
